If you are proposing to buy or otherwise acquire a business (as opposed to a normal commercial property transaction), this would involve examination of information relating to that business. Much of this information, such as detailed Accounts and so on, would not be in the public domain. It is therefore likely that you would be asked to undertake an enforceable Confidentiality Agreement before any substantial information was made available.
So, before we were able to pass on the complete details of any business for sale, we would, at that time, ask you to agree to such a confidentiality undertaking.
We would also ask that, as a matter of professional courtesy as much as business ethic, if you see a business for sale on this site, please contact us with a view to putting our Confidentiality Agreement in place, and not contact the vendors direct.
Indeed, this is what the vendor wishes. In many cases the business staff, customers, suppliers and so on (including the competition), do not know that the business is up for sale, and it could affect them adversely if the offer for sale became public knowledge.
